my Mom swore by that same model Impala....for, like 15 years. God, she loved that car.

Give me an older Jaguar XK series, and my own personal automotive shop to keep the damn thing on the road, and I'd be happy.

Only 30~ of these were built and never officially recognised by AMC.
As far as I know none survive, but they were BRUTALLY quick.

Those gremlins were still damn quick with the straight six up to a 100 mph or so....

my 1970 2 seater with a 70' 390 and a Warner T-10 4 speed
ran consistant 12:00's at 116-118 at NED Epping NH.
It was a modified motor, the Randall Gremlins used a stock 1972 401
and supposedly ran in the 13:00 at 108 range.

Still VERY quick compared to other muscle cars of the day.
Contrary tp popular legend none of the legendary muscle cars could do
much better than a 13.8 in the quarter without serious modifications.

My 1974 401 build will be a little more sedate than the 70 with the 390.
It is an automatic with a 4,000 rpm stall converter and a Ford 9" rear at 3.89:1
ratio on a 25" diameter tire. Engine is 435 cid, 11.5:1 and should develop 550 hp~
and 540 ft lbs of touque.

At 2800 lbs with driver I am hoping for low 11's at 130 on street tires.

I am thinking of painting it like a Randal Gremlin, but it can not be a replica
since the 1974 is quite different.

Well.....at least he didn't pick....a Pacer.
Though, I had one fer a while...it really looked like a "cow pie".
Before it died? I drag raced a friend with a new Cadillac....and whipped his ass, so bad...he turned around and immediately sold it. :)

How anyone ever take a Canadian seriously?
Especially the idiot whom posted those words?
Not a problem, I take all the Chimpnadian's insult as compliments.

Personally i have never been a GM fan.
I like the styling of Chrysler products over all of them.
AMC and it's head designer Dick Teague made some neat cars
with an ultra tight budget.

I had the use of a 1975 pacer for a while.
What a turd it was.
Powered by a 258 six it had a top speed of 82-85 mph.
I am not sure, but unless it was a STEEP down hill
it would never exceed 85.

Shoddy construction and rusted out early, but at least it was a gas pig.

Nasty car, and UGLY to boot.

the pos was not worn out, I drove it many times from when it was new till it
clocked 90,000K. It was just a slug.
