Because noone goes into the computer forum anyways here goes:

I've installed a new 2TB drive & my old 32OGB drive to make the file transfer. I struggled to access the old drive because windows wouldn't let me access it, I managed somehow to get permission to access the files, but when I open the drive it show all the files as 0 octet files & I can't open zilch. It was a NTFS drive & I'm on windows 7. Anyone know how I could get those files back?

Next I'll ask how I make windows recognize the 2TB drive ^^

You want to transfer files from your old drive to your new drive, but you're not reading the old files properly and Windows is not recognizing your new drive?
Did you format your new drive properly?

I'll try to help you.

First, is the new 2 TB drive formatted and partitioned? If so, is it in the NTSF format?

IF you unplug the new drive from the sata port...do you still have problems with the old 320gig hdd?

Is the new drive an internal or external drive? Are both hdd's SATA or a mix of SATA/PATA?

They're all SATA drives internal

My current PC has two velociraptors in raid 0 as windows partition & the 2tb drive is for data. I've just plugged it in it was brand new.

The old one was the data drive on a very old pc which I'd kept.

The 2GB drive appears in the windows periperals. But isn't recognised when I open "my computer"

There is an update. A few of the files on the old drives actually work, but the vast majority is just 0 bytes mumbo jumbo that won't open. I guess it's not a good sign.

You're correct "it's not a good sign"....could be that the drive is failing and has bad sectors.

Is it possible fer you to run a defrag utility or repair disk utility on it.... IOBIT has some decent free stuff you might could use to check it....

Nic, was the old drive functioning properly prior to you installing the new drive?

Though it's my limited understanding...what SATA version is the old drive and do you have it plugged into the same set of ports as your "RAIDed" drives? Also on my mind....is while the SATA versions are supposed to be backward compatible...is it possible that you have or maybe running three different versions? Such as SATA I II III etc?

BTW.. I know a guy on another forum that is a certified computer guru! (he works for Google) I can act as a middle man between the two of you if you like.
Barring that, just take your rig to a shop for professional repair ... that way they can plant a homing device in it!
