My fearless 2013 NFL predictions.

Post by Reservoir_Dog »

NFC

East: Washington Redskins. The 'Skins got better in the off season with a limited draft and Kirk Cousins showed last year he can win football games. It's a super tough division, but the 'Skins come out on top.

North: Green Bay Packers. Picture four starving Pitt Bulls all fighting for the same scrap of meat. The Green Bay Packers still have their core and will edge out a win in the NFL's toughest division.

South: Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons went out in the off season and got themselves an elite running back. That's just not fair.

West: Seattle Seahawks. A Juggernaut. An unstoppable force of nature. With or without Percy Harvin. Enough said.

Wild Cards: San Francisco 49er's, N.Y. Giants

Cinderella team: Detroit Lions

Team with the best chance to make me look like a complete idiot: Chicago Bears

Lucy! You got some explaining to do!: Arizona Cardinals. Good luck with that whole Carson Palmer thing. And thank you in advance for the 12 wins I'm going to get in my Pick 'em league.... betting against you!

AFC

East: New England Patriots. A dynasty in decline. But they play in the softest division in football and are handed 6 wins before the season even starts. How can they not win the East?

North: Baltimore Ravens. Lost some key players in the off season, but they're the reigning champs. Gotta go with them.

South: Houston Texans. Excellent team, but not very deep. If the starters can stay healthy the sky is the limit.

West: Denver Broncos. Weakest strength of schedule in the NFL for the second year in a row. How can they not win the West?

Wild Cards: Cinncinatti Bengals, Indianapolis Colts

Cinderella team: Kansas City Chiefs

Team with the best chance to make me look like a complete idiot:
Miami Dolphins

Lucy! You got some explaining to do!: Jacksonville Jaguars / Oakland Raiders. If you added these two teams together you still wouldn't have a decent arena league team!

NFC Championship game:
Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle Seahawks

AFC Championship game:
Houston Texans vs. Denver Broncos

Super Bowl: Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks

well, Res, I agree with much of your evaluation(scary, as we've both been pretty wrong at times in the past), but these things jump out:

1. Baltimore will have trouble repeating, because of some key losses in personnel, and the rise of the Bengals.
2. Denver is out of the gate with some SERIOUS injury issues, and a key player out on a drug suspension.
3. I disagree with the difficulty that the Skins ought to have this year. If they don't or can't cakewalk through the NFC East, Shanahan should go.
4. I would not put it past San Fran holding off Seattle, although the latter DOES look like a team on the rise.

oh,, and my picks:

Pats(who I think you will find become a true Belichek team, with a killer defense) beat the Falcons, if both stay reasonably healthy.

Now, having seen the key first couple weeks of Pre-Season with the grandson, I'll reprinting Res' picks, with my commentary in Red.
(listening to Esperanza Spalding while typing this, so good and mellow)

NFC

East: Washington Redskins. The 'Skins got better in the off season with a limited draft and Kirk Cousins showed last year he can win football games. It's a super tough division, but the 'Skins come out on top.rxcept for the tough division part, I agree. Might be a bit competetive between Giants and Skins, but the Skins are the better team. NY has the better coach however, but age might be tough to overcome in key areas.

North: Green Bay Packers. Picture four starving Pitt Bulls all fighting for the same scrap of meat. The Green Bay Packers still have their core and will edge out a win in the NFL's toughest division.nice analogy......I wonder about the Lions once in a while, but agree that the Pack has the back class.

South: Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons went out in the off season and got themselves an elite running back. That's just not fair.agree again, plus Gonzalez came back for another run. Key

West: Seattle Seahawks. A Juggernaut. An unstoppable force of nature. With or without Percy Harvin. Enough said.the arc would seem to favor Seattle, but give me San Fran's coach against the world....especially after his Brother won the damn Super Bowl last year. Just for the sake of civility at family gatherings he has to go all out this season.

Wild Cards: San Francisco 49er's, N.Y. Giantsthis is getting scary. I agree, again.

Cinderella team: Detroit Lionswell, I said I think about them sometimes....

Team with the best chance to make me look like a complete idiot: Chicago BearsEagles

Lucy! You got some explaining to do!: Arizona Cardinals. Good luck with that whole Carson Palmer thing. And thank you in advance for the 12 wins I'm going to get in my Pick 'em league.... betting against you!Arizona has traditionally sucked like Linda Lovelace. Let's go with another head scratcher, like the Cowboys

AFC

East: New England Patriots. A dynasty in decline. But they play in the softest division in football and are handed 6 wins before the season even starts. How can they not win the East?you know where my heart lies, but you said it about right. Further, Bill will use this dubious schedule and work the team to a peak in January

North: Baltimore Ravens. Lost some key players in the off season, but they're the reigning champs. Gotta go with them.watch Cincy take this one. You heard it here.

South: Houston Texans. Excellent team, but not very deep. If the starters can stay healthy the sky is the limit.Indy returns to the top of the heap.

West: Denver Broncos. Weakest strength of schedule in the NFL for the second year in a row. How can they not win the West?because Andy Reid rebuilds the Chiefs into a fearsome juggernaut....Just kiddin', Broncos should take it, but not look pretty doing so.

Wild Cards: Cinncinatti Bengals, Indianapolis Coltssee Above: Ravens,Texans

Cinderella team: Kansas City Chiefsget real, Res. Pittsburgh

Team with the best chance to make me look like a complete idiot: Miami DolphinsKC

Lucy! You got some explaining to do!: Jacksonville Jaguars / Oakland Raiders. If you added these two teams together you still wouldn't have a decent arena league team!San Diego

NFC Championship game: Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle SeahawksSkins at San Fran

AFC Championship game: Houston Texans vs. Denver BroncosIndy at New England

Super Bowl: Denver Broncos vs. Seattle SeahawksSan Fran vs. Pats

you know how that one comes out in Slick-Vision! ;)

NY has the better coach however, but age might be tough to overcome in key areas. You underestimate the Giants. Dallas will be good right up until Tony Oh-No has his December meltdown... again. (Dallas coach gets fired this year) Philly has a crap defense but will keep things interesting using McCoy and the long pass. Not to mention more than a few brilliantly fucked up offensive formations. What was with that 4 Tight End formation the other night! Are you kidding me! 4 Tight Ends !!!

Not with Frank Gore he's not.

Wild Cards: San Francisco 49er's, N.Y. Giantsthis is getting scary. I agree, again. If you're just going to blindly agree with and believe anything I say does that mean that I have to change my name to Fox News and you have to change your name to Pud?

Cinderella team: Detroit Lionswell, I said I think about them sometimes.... Start thinking Chicago.

Team with the best chance to make me look like a complete idiot: Chicago BearsEagles Not with that defense.

Lucy! You got some explaining to do!: Arizona Cardinals. Good luck with that whole Carson Palmer thing. Cinderella team: Kansas City Chiefsget real, Res. Pittsburgh Pitt is done like a Thanksgiving turkey. No O line. Unproven running backs. Old. Slow. Ben Rottencheeseburger is a broken down truck.

Team with the best chance to make me look like a complete idiot: Miami DolphinsKC Maybe. Just maybe.

Lucy! You got some explaining to do!: Jacksonville Jaguars / Oakland Raiders. If you added these two teams together you still wouldn't have a decent arena league team!San Diego As bad as Diego will be this year they will not be able to match the utter futility of the Jags or Raiders.

NFC Championship game: Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle SeahawksSkins at San Fran Only if RG3 plays in 16 games.
