de Gaulle is most well known for his "appeal of the 18th of june 1940, when he called for every frenchman to join him in england to keep fighting for France.

Except the armistice was signed on the 22nd of june 1940, and the ceasefire between France & Germany was enforced from the 25th of june (it was due to be enforced after the italian/french armistice). Some strongholds kept fighting despite the armistice until about a month after.

And the guy was already in england planning five years of treason.
