Hey Slick, have you ever wondered .....

Post by Reservoir_Dog »

Have you ever stopped and wondered how many other internet web forums Pud has destroyed?
I can't believe it's just CWoS. How many other thriving web forums have turned into ghost towns after Pud arrived?
I'm thinking at least half a dozen. But then again, I may be selling him short.

it's not Pud, in my mind....as appealing as that whole scenario sounds. It is a direct result of far more options than we saw even a decade back.
Seriously, what happened here was that far too much of a critical mass decided that there simply HAD to better use of their time, and moved on,
leaving too small a mass left to conduct much past personal discussions. Yes, Pud and Slappy when they take off his restraints, don't help. Still,
I'm open to the idea that I surely pissed off a few former posters myself, and I have no track record of destroying fora(I participate in one on FB
that dates back to USENET origins, with at least 40 members active that go back to the first 3 years in the 1990s. So, I don't know. We might be
the lucky winners, here, of the Pudfark lottery.

Come to think of it, though, either way, I really don't give a crap at this point. I'm just going to wrench what enjoyment can be had, for the same
reason folks used to enjoy watching organ grinder monkeys, or go to freak shows at the county carnival. Your mileage may vary!

I'll agree to disagree, and here's why.
Your post makes sense, and to a point it's quite true.
But, I regularly post in 4 other web forums and have been in each one somewhere around 15 years. All 4 are still as fresh and thriving as they have ever been. There are a couple of other forums I have been in for years and years and although I don't post much there any more I still pop in now and then to see how the old crowd is doing. And those forums are still thriving as well.
Yeah, some people discover more options. Yeah, some people find better uses for their time ... Rug and Buzz are good examples of that.
But I believe that most of the folks who left just couldn't put up with the endless, ad nauseam political crap any more. Once humor and levity were stripped from CWoS and it became one mans personal soapbox ... the exodus began. Chipz, Dawg and Soapy are perfect examples.
