oh, I wouldn't, in the least.....I've heard the same from several Canadian fishing buddies in Ontario and New Brunswick for a decade or more. Now, I am sure other folks around these parts wouldn't believe it, if you paid their way up there and they saw it themselves........Reservoir_Dog wrote:I'm only an hour and a half from the border and you wouldn't believe how many American licence plates I see in medical building parking lots.callmeslick wrote:which, I suppose is why thousands of Americans attempt to avail themselves of that government-run health care, annually.Barfly wrote:We have a long road to travel before it gets that bad RD, lol. Re: Insurance Update

Far better to let them Canadians pay....than you and me. Long lines and higher taxes...

What really makes me giggle?
R_D is gonna think he moved to Houston and he's standing in line at the triage at Ben Taub Hospital.
Then, what really makes me guffaw?
Them Canadians what come here for our doctors and hospitals.....and pay out of pocket?
Short lines......

Re: Insurance Update
like RD attempted to communicate: I've never heard anything about any lines, long or otherwise, suffered by Canadians. Their healthcare is, by ALL reports, first rate. Far more Americans go to Canada for care than visa versa, and I don't in any way forsee the ACA affecting that either up or down.
Re: Insurance Update
Well apparently, you ain't been following the news.....at all.
Denial sorta does that to a person.
Seems, 5.5 million uninsured folks?
Will be heard from...soon.

I've never stood in line for health care in my life.

we had 18 million uninsured BEFORE the ACA.......what happened then?Pudfark wrote:Well apparently, you ain't been following the news.....at all.

Re: Insurance Update
Goodie...a math problem?
18mil + 5.5mil = 23.5 mil uninsured as of the first of the year.
Projected 80 mil more by this fall.
Totaling...100mil +
All piling up in the E.R.
Which is the ObamaCare term for affordable care.
of the 100mil or so......folks?
without health care insurance?
the civil litigation should jam the courts up in perpetuity.
So, thanx to ObamaCare, 100mil + folks can go to hell or Canada....
I advocate elsewhere that we should deport all our meskins......north.

Re: Insurance Update
Pud, you are making a bizarre assumption that somehow these millions will not have insurance. I am quite confident that will not be the case. In any event, they won't be going to Canada, if they live in, say, Missouri.
Re: Insurance Update
Speaking of "bizarre assumptions"...you too, are making one.
It is that ObamaCare is "fixable" and I'll grant you that eventually, prolly far to late,
the website will be.
However, the "law" is so flawed as to be unworkable, both in actuality and financially.
That ain't an opinion from me, it's the math.
I'll grant you....that you have not admitted....that come the first of the year, 5mil + folks will have lost their health care and will be without.....thanks to Obama and his care.
We can banter about this all you want?
Which is fine by me.
We both know...admitted or not, those folks are fecked and so are their families.
The least Obama could do?
Is wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Re: Insurance Update
you are old enough, Pud, to remember that the EXACT same stuff was said about Medicare itself, and later, the Drug Benefit. Both both got fixed, got working well, and became immensely popular. So, it will be with the ACA. What is funny, though, to look back upon, is all the claim that this law was 'communist' or akin to apartheid or slavery, and other over-the-top nonsense. In the rearview mirror of history, it will just be another little step forward for the betterment of the people(although I suspect the next decade will finally bring us true, Universal Healthcare, which would have been easier to implement, although more costly).
