ooooh, a challenge :)

It seems to me that the only "higher power" that atheists acknowledge?
Is themselves... :?

Well, that sounds like an interesting subject. And I'm an atheist. So I'll shoot the shit with you if you like. New thread perhaps?
(I'm working some crazy hours right now so don't take it personally if replies don't come promptly)

Not at all RD, it is simply a diversion for the Rollers to play head games and
twist things to show that I am a closet believer.
My belief system is based on the rules of law in the country I was born in and reside in.
No afterlife fantasy of a vengeful God punishing me for evil deeds.
And I have a sense of what is good and bad behavior. I don't need a God Myth
to get where I am, just a civilized up-bringing.

while still having a good laugh from Nic's reply, I'll give you my serious best answer, Darkhorse.

I know right and wrong as I was taught by my parents, and to some extent that value system is universal to the point of instinctual with man. No doubt, some of it is specifically rooted in Judeo Christian value systems, but not all. My view of truth is that truth, by definition, is widely varied by the point of view of the person or persons making the call. Certainly, many truths could be seen as absolute, but most could be seen as relative. Finally, as to the measurement of morals and values? I don't know quite what you mean by that, as most things I view in terms of morality are highly personal, and I would neither expect others to keep to them, nor even myownself to be perfect in those respects either. Values are also very personal, and I would offer that the world would be a boring place, and mankind doomed in we all maintained too tight a set of values, as the core of creativity and innovation are the different values and points of view of individuals which allow for a segment of the population to look at things differently than others.

Ok, here is the text as I remember and with a little copy and paste.

#1 I am the Lord your God (show me)
a, You shall have no other gods before me (obviously a moot point for an Athiest)
b, You shall not make for yourself an idol (again obviously a moot point for an Athiest)

#2 Do not take the name of the Lord in vain (not a bad idea as the rollers get upset)

#3 Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy (another one to skip)

#4 Honor your father and mother (good idea, but I know more than one parent that deserves no respect)

#5 You shall not kill/murder (this one will keep you out of jail)

#6 You shall not commit adultery (I have banged to many married and non married women to worry about this one)

#7 You shall not steal (see commandment #5)

#8 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor (This one will avoid jail and getting shot)

#9 You shall not covet your neighbor's wife (I'm doomed!)

#10 You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor (I'll just take his wife or daughter)
