Buzz, you live in the Colorado mountains. What, exactly would you eat, besides meat? That's one of the reasons I suggested the need for society. Actually, as a solitary creature, humans are a mess. We've never been a species that does well without being part of a group. Even the hunter/gatherers did so in groups.
Take whatever skillset you wish to the mountains, if you wander past a hungry mountain lion(especially a lioness) you are toast.

I've been thinking about that. You can train your body to live on protein, but not 100%. I'd need some carbs too. I'd sure miss my oatmeal. I know I could work it out if I have time to prepare for it.

As for a mountain lion? I'd do what my buddy did who lives near me. These are the type on neighbors I have.

Ya got that right Buzz, examination of traditional eskimo diets indicates that very little vegetable matter, along with high protein is generally healthier than a modern carb heavy diet. Completely doable and sustainable in the wilderness. And you can easily barter with someone who is growing their own garden, no need to interact at all within any modern social structure. I believe our psychology really has never evolved past interacting efficiently with more than small village sized groups of people anyway. The value of a large, relatively homogenous integrated society has huge value for commerce and technology, but no 'evolved' social benefit.
