dance, Pudfark, dance. And you are the one that wishes, often, to babble about Freedom and Rights? Give me a break, you only want freedom and rights if they suit your ends.

self determination without obligation to the soceity as a whole is both selfish, and counter to American history and ideals.

The state has an obligation to it's citizens regarding safety, money creation & defense. Period.

and such a state, unless it is the size of Lichtenstein, is doomed to failure. Find me an exception, Nic.

Can't help myself..."Dance-Dance".
Self determination is "selfish", always has been.

Self determination is our history and our children's legacy.

Our whole history.

Until folks like yourself...bankrupt it out of existence.
You and yours are responsible for "dumbing" down our population.
Misrepresenting "facts" as your "feelings".
You believe that no one has responsibility for themselves, only to others.
You are wrong.

What you suggest/want to change? Is Un-American.

I am stating, Pud, that everyone has an obligation BOTH to themselves and to the society as a whole. In fact, individuals striving to do the best for themselves and their family is PART, but not all, of such an obligation to the society. The reality is, in a world with so many individuals, if you don't all pull together, you are destined for chaos, dictatorship or worse.

The reality is this Slick.
That's why we have "different" countries.

I don't tell Nic what to do and I don't tell R_D (unless he annoys me  ).

Further, I do resent, being told by anybody, that I am obliged to pay for some else's
short comings...no matter the excuse.

I really don't want or intend to annoy you.
I gotta get to my "rat killing" around here.

later....

oh, now it's clearer.....Pud thinks being born poor, or with a physical handicap is someone's 'shortcomngs'. Someone being laid off due to corporate downsizing and losing healthcare because, say, a child has cerebral palsy is making 'excuses'. Speaking of excuses, that is a sorry-ass excuse for humanity.

Folks who live in the real world call it Life.
Folks who wanna do something about it, call it charity.
I'm all for charity. I'm not for excuses. I'm not for being imposed upon.

I'm for your right to say it. :)
