thus far a lot of conflicting reports. Seems it was clearly shot down, but by whom is unclear. Bottom line, I'm not travelling on Malaysian Air anytime soon.

The article's title clearly says "downed".
The article's sub title clearly says "brought down".
The article's first paragraph clearly says " ... of shooting down".
The photo tag line clearly says "shot down".
The term "crashed" was clearly used as a reference to the site where the plane ended up laying all over planet Earth.
As in ... the crash site.
