A Complete Waste of Space

People will be dying off quicker than the animals. The weak will try and steal and die.

I don't understand your point Soap? This isn't something i'd do by choice. This would be survival in extreme conditions.

I'm living a similar life now. All the good stuff, but I use man when I need him. If I had time to prepare. I could live without him, or at least the ones i'm not interested in. (majority)

I could easily give up comforts and live a primitive life. I've done it months at a time, and really liked it.

I'll never need a dentist. No cavities, and I don't eat food that gives them.

Doctor...Well if it's bad i'll die from what they used to call "natural causes". We all go at some point. Who knows? Maybe a doctor will live somewhere near me. It's beautiful where I live if you can handle it.

The truth is, whether the US falls apart or not. I'm moving closer and closer to primitive living. It feels natural to me. The next computer I throw in the trash will be the last one.

You might be an exception to rule. Lots of us "think" we can survive because we saw a video or read a book on how to eat stuff that people don't usually eat etc, some people have done it for a weekend or longer as part of their jobs, or to test themselves. Not many of us have had to do it for real and enjoyed it

So apart from Buzz up in the hills, the majority of people would eventually die out or perhaps become part of a new feudalism.

As to trashing computers, I'm all for it. I love the access to information and the games and the communication like the next guy, but, I know there are people who have never read a book or had to write stuff down to then research at a library later ( because they can always check it on google ) and worse still, people tend not to retain info in their own heads as it is ubiquitous on the net.

In car GPS stuff for instance, handy yes, but people are using it to drive 4 blocks rather than just remembering. Paper maps. I asked some people at work how they would find North, they replied "my iphone app has a compass" so I asked them what they would do without a compass and they didn't have any idea where the sun rose and set or actually why North is important. ( I could have said South or East or West they didn't get that one fixed direction gives you an idea where the others are. )

People like that would become stonage really quickly if society collapsed (" we get water near the big hill with the ASDA sign " Where is that ? "near the ASDA sign" which one there are 10 ASDAs within walking distance. "the one with the hill near it...")

Yes, I laugh at the hunters who come here from out of state. They would get lost and die in the mountains without their GPS, and those are the good ones. The really lame have to hire guides.

They use horses or ATV's to get to the area. They follow behind the guide like a puppy. The guide locates an elk 500 yds away. Sets up the shot for the hunter while he just sits there and watches. Then he walks up to the gun which the guide has all sighted in for him, and he takes the shot. The guide does all the work of dressing out the animal and hauling it out while the hunter drives/rides back to camp claiming to the world the great trophy hunter he is. If he had to hunt for survival, he'd be dead in a week.

Makes me sick.
