over here? No right of property from spouse, no guarantee of hospital visitation rights of spouse, can be fired for being gay, or even 'seeming' gay(still not fully addressed, but getting there), couldn't serve in the military(even intelligence officers or other office types), lots of hate crimes once got overlooked. In other words, Nic, there was plenty in the status that didn't equate to the rights of straight people. But that is over here, and Nic, I took some pains to state that I have no clue what the daily status and civil rights of gay people were in modern France.
