I note, this morning that the right in the US just went back to assailing Obama in some of the dumbest ways they've managed to date, thus accomplishing exactly what he warned about: divisiveness projecting American weakness. Our President Lincoln grasped that, at Gettysburg, and apparently some folks here are far too stupid to grasp the lesson 165 years down the road.

Cop out? Hardly. Even french colonization, which lead to decolonization, which in turn led to mass-immigration from former colonies was a deed of leftists like Jules ferry for instance.
Ironing that just after WWI, Général Mangin asked for all colonial troops who fought in the war to be awarded the french nationality (rightly so I might add) for their sacrifice, only to be turned down by the socialists
