I get that, but it looks like he was enough larger than her to be able to control things from more behind her than he was.

Personally, I see no reason why.....they loaded more than three rounds in the magazine?
Nine year old girls/boys don't have the strength/control of an adult.

Sorta like the "common sense" of not letting some one of that age/size walk a 80lb pit bull on a leash.
