Re: The better times...
like the other thread, on Britain's Probate law, I'd love to know Nic's entire point in posting this thread. I mean, it was a weird night in NHL history,
but beyond that?
but beyond that?
Re: The better times...
The article is funny & the quotes are amusing as hell.
Beyond that? Nothing.

Re: The better times...
But since you seem to never being able to refrain from opening your fat gob about anything:
This: "Don Cherry, who had coached the Bruins the season before and watched the game on television, said he was pleased to see McNab acting out of character. “I was quite proud of him,” he said."
this: "Cheevers, meanwhile, wanted no part of the action. “I was already on my second beer,” he said, laughing."
this: "“If you watch the tape — and I can freely throw my teammates under the bus now after 30 years — people were throwing some serious shots down below us that were obscured by the fact that everybody was focusing on the idiot highest up in the stands hitting somebody with a shoe.”"
that: "“We do not accept his findings, and we are very proud of our players and the way they conducted themselves under very difficult circumstances.”"
Could never be said in pro sports or on the news anymore.
You may go and say that "yes it could", but we'd both know you'd be plain lying.

I'd disagree.....we have loose cannons pop up all the time. Yes, corporate sponsorship in car racing and some other sports(soccer, esp)has gotten heavy-handed, but even there(as you note), you get the free-spirited soul speaking his/her mind. From golf to baseball, I can think of a ton of radical or even outrageous commentary in just the past 3 or 4 years.fatman wrote:Dude sportsmen these days are corporate mouth pieces Webber was a breath of fresh air in F1 but i think that was just the Aussie running deepcallmeslick wrote:and, they aren't now? actually, pro golfers, in the past few years, have uttered some amazingly stupid things. That, despite having sold their souls to commercial interests.Pudfark wrote:less radical talk from golf than all the others mentioned. Why?
