Neil Peart paid homage to Simon in the song "Spirit of the Radio".
Simon wrote, "For the words of the prophets were written on the subway walls, and tenement halls... and echo with the sound of silence."
Peart wrote, "For the words of the prophets are written on the studio wall, and concert halls.... and echo with the sound of salesmen."

a truly ironic graffiti artist would have simply written, "The Words of the Prophets", and let the viewer fill in the blanks. Kids these days.
