Looks like Obama must have been President for about 90 years.

thanks Res. Anyone who lives in or near coal country knows that decline has been going on for a LONG time. Yet another 'blame Obama' wet-dream.
Oh, and Slappy, there is no wall, and you clearly didn't read my link. Two solar jobs? How about solar jobs passing coal jobs in Virginia, a traditional coal mining state. Another fail.

Here's another little tidbit.
As the number of jobs in coal went down ... productivity went up!
Think automation has anything to do with that? (how's that for a nice tie-in between two threads)

oh, yeah. People think coal mining is still a bunch of guys marching or taking little trains into a mine. No, they blow the top off a mountain, go at it with a bunch of machinery, and when done essentially leave a huge chunk of land beyond reclamation. Bottom line, and yes, it is a nice tie in, coal isn't coming back because of dwindling economic justification, jobs in coal aren't going to stop disappearing due to modern production methods. Why not just go back to whale oil in search of jobs?
