I am stating, Pud, that everyone has an obligation BOTH to themselves and to the society as a whole. In fact, individuals striving to do the best for themselves and their family is PART, but not all, of such an obligation to the society. The reality is, in a world with so many individuals, if you don't all pull together, you are destined for chaos, dictatorship or worse.

Someone being laid off due to corporate downsizing and losing healthcare because, say, a child has cerebral palsy is making 'excuses'. Speaking of excuses, that is a sorry-ass excuse for humanity.
