I've been googling like crazy, and I think I'm going to get a HK45 or HK45C & a threaded barrel.
By the time I'm allowed to get one though the P30 might be available in .40 S&W.

Planning to buy a gun...
Re: Planning to buy a gun...
Personally, I think I will eventually get a P30 in .40. Perfect hand fit for my medium sized hands. The Hk45 is almost too big, but still a great fit. For small hands I think it's a no go. Even with adjustable pieces on the handgrip.
Re: Planning to buy a gun...
I was thinking of the P30 in .40... by the time I'm actually allowed to own a gun it will probably be available.
I've been googling like crazy, and I read that the recoil from the .40 is more twitchy than the recoil of the .45?
BTW I've found a belgian importer for kimber guns, there are a lot of models, but I'm not even sure that I can buy somewhere else in Europe. They don't look nearly as nice as the HK45 though, so I suspect the HK will win.

Don't like plastic framed guns. I can feel the frame flex when I shoot them.
Re: Planning to buy a gun...
Might have to make you an honorary 'Merrikan if you buy that one.
Re: Planning to buy a gun...
Seriously it's growing on me, if I was to buy right now I'd be getting that one & a set of dot sights

Re: Planning to buy a gun...
What kicks ass with 1911's are that you can modify them to fit your hand and your shooting style. The mainspring housing on the Kimber in that picture is flat. I prefer an arched mainspring housing. But you can swap them out (or have a gunsmith do it) easily.
Re: Planning to buy a gun...
Laser sights on handguns are about as useful as a hood ornament on a Yugo.....
No one shoots better with them...Nobody competitively shoots a handgun with them....
In a real life situation, they are very distracting to the shooter, because?
The eyes of the human shooter are drawn to the bright light and not the hands
or actions of the "target"/adversary....
To accurately shoot a handgun, you must be able to reasonably hold the weapon steady,
align the sights accurately and be able to "break" the shot at the exact moment, the sights
are properly aligned with the target....
A laser is a distraction, not an aid.
It does have a "cool" factor...for the ignorant and impressionable folks....nothing wrong
with that, if your not serious about it.....
Personally, I would save the $ on the laser sights and spend it on ammo....
Hope this is helpful...

Re: Planning to buy a gun...
I'd like a laser to have a better feel of the movement of my hand as I press the trigger.
I know it won't help me to shoot, nor will I ever need it in anger anyway. I just find it cool
