There's plenty of proof and it has nothing to do with ballots that were too hard to read. It has to do with the Supreme Court inventing law. Not to mention disregarding law.

It's sad, really. Not at all a Democrat or Repub thing. As Ruggie pointed out, it was Dem justices that kicked the can on eminent domain. He is very wrong to suggest that all Dems supported that, or even close to a majority. Still, it's amazing how little concern some folks show that, in a few short years, two essential pillars supporting the founding of this nation have been shattered by our Supreme Court. Both the concepts of the primacy of private property, and rights of the individual to be free of corporate control were at the heart of the Revolution. Hell, at this point we should have just stayed as part of Great Britain. Then, at least we'd have universal healthcare. ;)

Well, I guess it's time fer some Tea Parties on the "Justice's" front porch...
you weren't around when I posted it, so I'll repeat this: I had really high hopes for the tea party movement at it's very beginnings. Then, it morphed into a loony, anti-Obama, Pelosi-hysteria, one-sided movement that ignored the key fact that it's the whole two party system that has gone south. Now, a quick look at the upcoming Tea Party Convention reveals the ugly truth. Many of the principals are making a ton of money off the 'registration fees', and several are using it to promote book sales. In other words, they aren't even a real political party, and the leaders have sold out already.
And, while I am still a member and ward leader for one of those major parties, I am not thrilled with a lot of the candidates we've put up over the years(and, I have that annoying habit of mine that leads me to speak truth to folks that may not wish to hear it....they just love me at party gatherings). I'm really at the point where I think we need a third party that can pull consensus from the public, but wonder it that can happen. We need a party that can narrowly focus on a few key issues around honest public service, an end of pay to play politics, restoration of an economy which is capitalist, but with structured regulation, and a moderate level of social safety nets to care for our society's weakest members. For the time being, leave gay rights, abortion, religious intolerance, radical immigration reform and other contentious issues off the table, and simply right the damned ship. I'm not sure we can, as a people, overcome the hatred, distrust and irrational fearmongering that has divided the nation for so long, but we better figure out how to, and soon. Or else, nothing will matter, we will be nation subjugated by a handful of people, for the benefit of a very few. And, such a nation won't hang together long....soon enough, we'll all be learning Mandarin(for those of you already fluent, your future is bright, sort of).

Yet being the operative word!

They do and can though, in sublte ways.

As to Amercanistic politics...

All politicians are theives, if the don't steal your money, they steal your vote with a promise. Hookers are more honest than politicians as at least you get something out of the bargain. And have a better chance of not feeling like your nuts are infested neither :? Same over there as it is over here, but, I think that it is becoming more apparent to you guys in the States than it was in the past. While us folks over here realised the BS post WW2. And thats a goddam shame.

For me at least, the USA had always been a place, that while sometimes naive and a bit jingoistic, at least had a constitution that was superbly fair and even. There was/is always the aspiration that anyone could be anything that they really aspired to be.

Now you guys are catching up with the new cynicism, and it is awfull.

well, they say you get the Democracy which the public deserves. Now, read Pudfark's comments, along with some of Ruggies, and tell me we don't have it coming to us. :(

Sorry pal, it's your party that started all this socialist bullshit. FDR's policies turned into a bureacracy that has put this country in tremendous debt. It's also taken whole classes of people and told them they aren't worth anything so they shouldn't bother to better themselves.

Urban blacks for one. 5 generations of blacks are on the government tit. Sending money "to help" effectively tells them they aren't good enuf nor smart enuf to succeed so they remain poor and on the tit.
